Jamie Foxx In Early Talks To Play Electro In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Sequel

This is interesting… To say the least. A while ago we discovered that Sony were in talks with actress Shailene Woodley to play Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and that Electro was being looked at as a potential main villain for the film. The same guys have broke the news today that actor Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, Rio) is in early talks with Sony to bring Electro to life on the big screen.

This is considerably big news, as no one could have seen this coming, and it means Foxx will be the first black villain Spidey will face on the big screen (I can’t recall any black villains in the comics either) and marks a signifcant racial departure from the Electro comics fans love, as he has always been white in literally everything the villain has appeared in. Do I think this is a good idea? Well, if they’re changing Max Dillon’s race then I imagine his character will be significantly different as well, but Foxx is a fantastic actor so I imagine he’ll do well in the role.

What do you think? Are you fine with Sony changing the race of a major comics villain for the movies, and what do you think it means for future comic book movies? Share your thoughts below.
