I’m suprisingly psyched about “Snow White and the Huntsman”

The first trailer for Universal’s much anticipated Snow White and the Huntsman debuted earlier today, and let me be the first to say…it looked great. I was a bit disappointed when I first heard that Kristen Stewart was cast in the titular role, but now I’m thoroughly convinced she was the right choice. Her slow, ‘pensive’ acting may be annoying in the Twilight films, but it seems a perfect fit for this new, heroic take on Snow White.

And Thor…ahem, I mean Chris Hemmsworth…is beastly in the role of the Huntsman. In between axe swings and haughty one-liners, there’s sure to be plenty of the stuff fans crave.

Charlize Theron plays a particularly sinister Queen, although most of the praise is probably owed to the art department. Their portrayal of this classical Disney story is just grim enough to invigorate the series, but not nearly enough to be off-putting. Honestly, they’ve really done some great work re-imagining the property…whether it be the new interpretation of the “Man in the Mirror” or the great symbolism of the midnight, black ravens. This is definitely in the top five for my summer of 2012. And that’s saying a lot, considering the sheer caliber of Fanboy fare that’s coming to theatres: The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises, Men In Black III, and so many more!!!

Next year is destined to be all types of epic.

Here’s the trailer in case you missed it.
