Hans Zimmer will score the Man of Steel

Well Superman fans, you can rest assured that at least the soundtrack to the next film featuring the big blue boy scout will more than likely be good.  News came out today that the forthcoming movie is set to be scored by Batman alumni, Hans Zimmer.

The news may be a little shocking considering Hans Zimmer had this to say about scoring the Man of Steel:

[It] happens to be one of his greatest themes, [Williams is] the greatest living composer. So no. And I’m not thinking of rewriting Beethoven’s ninth either. It just sounds like a thankless task, you know? So that’s unequivocally a no.

So what happened to change the seasoned composer’s mind?  Who knows.  All we can take away from this is the man who has done a masterful job scoring Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and presumably The Dark Knight Rises is now attached to the Man of Steel.

So what say you fanboys and fangirls?  Is this a good thing or a bad thing?  Can Hans Zimmer bring a soundtrack to life that will be worthy of Superman?  Sound off in the comments below!

The Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and opens June 14, 2013.  It stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni, Ayelet Zurer, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff.
