Guillermo del Toro Planning a Justice League Dark Film?

Justice League Dark is one of those comic groups that most fans assume would never get a film adaption. The team is too weird, and the roster is full of unknowns, etc. Well, I guess a film adaption wasn’t as impossible as fans assumed. Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Blade II, Hellboy) has stated to IGN that he is in the process of writing a draft for a DC film. He didn’t call the film “Justice League Dark” by name (he called it Dark Universe), but the roster for the film makes it pretty obvious: Swamp Thing, The Demon, Deadman, The Spectre, John Constantine, Zatanna, and Zatara.

I’m writing the outline and we already are in talks with a writer. A very, very good writer. I think people are going to be happy with who we have chosen and he accepted.

Interesting. I wonder who the writer is…

Anyway, in the comics, Justice League Dark is a spin-off team of the main Justice League group, created to deal with supernatural threats. The current comic series, published by DC Comics, is written by Jeff Lemire (Animal Man). Meanwhile, DC is also planning a Justice League film.

Anyways, I’m pretty excited for this. Almost all the members are hardcore and cool in their own right, but this film will need a really high budget to capture the other-worldly feel. Oh, and not to cross-promote articles, but del Toro claims that Shadow of the Colossus is one of his all-time favorite video games!
