George Lucas Not Writing Indiana Jones 5; Update On Jurassic Park 4

Ever since the release of the critically-panned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull four years ago, we’ve heard bits and pieces of news from George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford and others regarding a fifth installment. There were rumours a few years ago that the movie would be released in 2011 and feature Indiana Jones and Mutt Williams adventuring across the Bermuda Triangle with Indy giving the reins over to his son, but obviously nothing came of that.

Speaking to CraveOnline at a press event for The Bourne Legacy, producer Frank Marshall revealed that George Lucas is NOT writing Indy 5 *cue collective cheer*.

“As far as I know he’s not writing a fifth Indy,” Marshall said. “I think he’s thinking about ideas but he’s certainly not writing one. We’d love to keep the series going but again it’s got to be a really good story. They’re hard to do.”

The producer also offered an update on the long-in-development fourth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise:

“It’s got new life,” he said. “It’s in development. It’s got new life. I can tell you that that is moving forward.”
