Did You Know BOBA FETT Originally Wore White Armor?

Staying a bit truer to his clone origins, Boba Fett was originally meant to wear white armor in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, before designers decided to transform his fancy shmancy space suit into a camouflaged array of blue and green. We’ve nabbed some video of the original design, and while it definitely looks Coruscant Chic (which is so in this season), he doesn’t seem to be much more than a super stormtrooper… a regular ol’ soldier conforming to regulations. A bit different than his “renegade mercenary” look that we all love.

Did you notice all of Boba Fett’s weapons that weren’t featured in the Original Trilogy were included in Jango Fett’s costume in the Prequels? That’s some great work by George Lucas, even if the whole “Fett” arc fell flat… just like every other nod and wink to the Original Trilogy. But with J. J. at the helm, all these subtleties (and “duh” ones too) should really hit their mark.

I can’t wait to see Luke Skywalker in detective mode, pettily squabbling with an indignant, street urchin…

“Good luck Jedi! You’d have better luck hitting a space-beer at a thousand yards than getting info from me”

And Luke just slyly smiles and says “I think I could manage”

You know… because of the Death Star and such.  Anyway, here are some early designs for Fett to keep you off track at work.  I’m a bit partial to the second one down on the left, which they seemed to recycle for Princess Leia’s Bounty Hunter disguise in the opening scene of Return of the Jedi.
