Casting News For CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER; Backstory Updates For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Latino Review have been promising fans a huge Marvel scoop for days now, and they paid off tonight with not one – but two scoops! Thankfully it has nothing to do with Iron Man 3 (don’t get me wrong I’m excited but I want to know more about the other MCU movies) but rather focuses on Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. First up is the sequel to the man out of time…

The site reveal a bit of casting news for this one. Last week a shortlist of actresses for Sharon Carter (well, the “female love interest”) came online which consisted of Emilia Clarke, Jessica Brown Findlay, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, and Alison Brie. However, apparently the actress that none of us were expecting and is ‘gaining the most traction’ from Marvel is Scott Pilgrim vs the World star Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Upon reflection, this seems to be yet another perfect casting decision from the studio.

Additionally, they go on to say that Marvel is looking at Lost‘s Josh Holloway, Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster Waldau and X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘s Kevin Durand for two unspecified ‘physical’ male roles, one American and the other foreign. I’m going to go for the obvious and say one of the roles is Aleksander Lukin, the main villain of the Winter Soldier comics arc. As for the other, it’s probably either Baron Zemo or Crossbones. If it’s the latter, then Durand should definitely get it.

And on to Guardians of the Galaxy. This part isn’t as big, but the site confirm that Thanos will play a large role in the movie and at the moment the script focuses on Star-Lord, Gamora and Drax the Destroyer and their backstories and costumes are undergoing changes to fit around the Mad Titan (for the latter two that is) and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Anyway, what do you make of this news? This should certainly make for a lot of discussion over the coming months. Share your thoughts below.
