BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Adds Three New Actors As Original Characters

With all the focus on established DC characters that will appear in the Man of Steel sequel, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman, it’s easy to forget that these comic book movies also include characters that didn’t originate from the comics. Think about, not everyone in the movie can be famous. Then there wouldn’t be anybody to get the most attention.

To remind us (not really), Warner Bros. has added Holly Hunter (The Piano, Thirteen), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire) and Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) will be joining the cast of Batman vs. Superman as original characters. These actors join Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne as part of the cast.

No details were provided regarding who they will be playing other than saying that they are newly created characters for the film. However, director Zack Snyder did have kind words to say about Hunter and Mulvey. What, no love for Mariko Yashida (Okamoto)?

Holly has always been one of my favorite actresses; she has immense talent and is always captivating on screen. I had an opportunity to meet her a while back and knew instantly that I had to work with her, so as we began writing the script I made sure to create a role specifically for her.

I just had the good fortune to work with Callan on ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ and was very impressed with his incredible talent. He’s a fantastic actor and I’m looking forward to having the chance to work with him again. And, quite simply, Tao is a striking presence whose beauty is aptly rivaled by her amazing abilities as an actress. I’m really excited to have her joining us on this adventure.

Unfortunately, there’s just not enough to go on here to speculate who these actors might be playing. They could be anyone from Daily Planet staffers to military personnel to supporting villains. The possibilities are endless! Now we’ll have to do the unthinkable…actually wait and find out who they’ll be portraying. That’s just no fun.
