Arnim Zola to Return in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Hey, fans of Arnim Zola (are there any?), listen up! The villain, who perviously appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger, will make his (maybe) epic return in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Toby Jones will be reprising the role.

In the comics, Arnim Zola, who is a mad scientist, ended up downloading his brain inside an android body, so the main rumor seems to be that the film will follow that route. If true, I guess we’ll see “TV Head” Zola. Yay?

Toby Jones accidentally mentioned this during the Critics Circle Awards. Toby Jones voiced Dobby in the Harry Potter films, and was nominated for a Golden Globe for playing Alfred Hitchcock in The Girl.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier, based on the Marvel Comics, will be released April 4, 2014. The film is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Arrested Development, Community), and is being produced by Kevin Feige, who has produced pretty much all the Marvel films. The screenplay is being done by Christopher Markus (Chronicles of Narnia) and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger).

Other returning actors include Chris Evans as Captain America/Steve Rogers, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. New characters include Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie, and Crossbones, played by Frank Grillo.

I really don’t care anout Zola myself, and as far as I know, most people don’t seem to care either. Both Winter Soldier and Crossbones make for cooler villains, and with rumors floating around about Red Skull and/or Baron Zemo appearing, I have to wonder if we even need Arnim Zola. Worst case, the film will have a bloated feel, like Spider-Man 3.
