The Academy Awards are almost here, and Fox is in full campaign mode, but there’s one guy in particular that’s garnering much of the attention. That man is Andy Serkis. Perhaps best known for his on screen portrayal of Gollum from The Lord of the Rings series, Serkis has become the messiah of motion-capture performers in recent weeks. His performance as Caesar in the surprise blockbuster Rise of the Planet of the Apes has been unanimously touted as one of the best of the year, but it’ll be a hard trick to convince the Academy members of that.
They’ve been notoriously dismissive towards anything related to CGI, but Fox is still hopeful that their campaign can convince them otherwise. Serkis had a chance to talk about these issues during a recent press tour. Check it out below:
