A TRICK ‘R TREAT 2 Finally Happening?!

It’s not quite Halloween yet, but with all of the Halloween movies, and a day until Halloween it’s easy to get into the Halloween Spirit already! I know I have been since September! To add to that it looks like there is a, wait for it, you ready for this? I don’t think you’re ready for this…Okay, I’ll tell you anyways!

There will be a Trick ‘R Treat sequel! Now, don’t get ahead of yourself quite yet. For those of you that don’t know Trick ‘R Treat is a horror film that came out in 2007, and according to IMDB’s description of the movie it’s:

Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband and a mean old man meets his match with a demonic, supernatural trick -or treater.

Now, after eight years the brilliant Director and Writer Michael Dougherty, and his helper writers Todd Casey and Zach Shields are FINALLY coming out with a second one! The best part? Is he is giving a little bit of taste to the audience because a Comic Book came out titled Trick ‘R Treat: Days of the Dead.

According to Geek Tyrant, Dougherty discussed the upcoming sequel and explained that they are going to go a little deeper in exploring the shadows of Halloween:

“I feel like the first film really just scratched the surface in terms of exploring what really goes on in the shadows of Halloween, and it was, for me, the first film is really just introducing audiences to the notion that, yes, strange creepy magical things do happen on Halloween and here’s a peek behind the curtain, and so, with the next film, we do want to peek behind the curtain more into asking why.”

He went on to talk about how this won’t be quite like the comic book version however, and Cinema Blend explains how it’ll stick more to the structure of first film which to be honest worked perfectly.

“I think the book is very different in terms of the structure. Like you pointed out, the book hops around between time periods, but that’s just so we could really fill in a little bit of backstory about how far back things go. The next film will be closer to the first film in terms of its structure and setting.”

I’m a little worried about this. The first film was fantastic! No doubt. Yet, again I didn’t read the first comic books unfortunately, so there can be no comparison between the film and the comic book. But straying from the original comic is always a bit terrifying. To be honest though, I’m not too worried about this. First of all if it’s anything like the first film then I have high hopes for this one.

Trick ‘R Treat 2 doesn’t have a release date yet but is in current development of bringing the film to life and will come out probably sometime in October. Here’s to hoping to a year or two from now but no confirmation as of yet.

So, for now reading the comic book will be all the satisfaction needed for now. So, my friends just remember when Halloween comes around (which is soon), be careful and aware of what you do that day because Sam lives by a code, one that will be quickly implemented to those not following the rules.

There’s something classically mythological about one’s ability to bargain with their potential executioner.
