Spider-Man And His Amazing VILLIANS?

With the Superior Spider-Week now upon us, Marvel has launched the news that there will be a new Spider-Man title.

Hurray is what the comics press did not shout, because due to the double shipping of many popular Marvel titles, fanboys are starting to go bankrupt. Marvel has yet to release a statement on the status of all of their poor fans losing money.

The new title focuses on the villains of Spidey as a new sort of Sinister Six forms in the Marvel Universe. The ongoing series is set to be written by fan favorite Nick Spencer and drawn by Steve Lieber.

A portion of the cast of the brand new comic book was revealed as Shocker, Boomerang, Speed Demon, The Beetle, and Overdrive.

The comic is officially called The Superior Foes Of Spider-Man which is a mouthful and impossible to say five times fast. Rumors are floating around about a brand new Doctor Octopus joining the title after the events of Superior Spider-Man #9.

Here is a portion of the interview from the Marvel website revolving around writer Nick Spencer and some of the editorial staff.

“The beauty of the Spider-Man world has always been that for all the web-slinging action and adventure, Peter Parker lives in the world outside your window and his villains reflect that,” said Tom Brennan, editor, Marvel Entertainment. “The new world of Superior Spider-Man demands a look at the lives, lies, schemes and dreams of his villains. Spider-Man’s evolved – will his villains as well?”

“This is a book about the working class guys; these are not the Kingpins or Green Goblins or Doc Ocks of the world,” explained Spencer. “These are the small-time crooks looking for a quick score so they can pay their alimony and get the loan shark off their back. A lot of the book is from Boomerang’s perspective, and he’s very much aware of that—and he sees this new Sinister Six he’s formed as one last big shot at real money and real power. He’s got a lot riding on this.”

This batch of villains have a lot to prove over the course of this series.
