SPAWN #250 — Hey kids, AL’s back!!

I know it’s one of the most predictable attributes of any comic property, as yet another main character died only to return a few years later. But man I’m happy to see Al Simmons back in action and even on an issue cover.

Here’s some of what Todd McFarlane had to say about SPAWN in 2015:

We’re back, we’re resetting the machinery and let’s see what can happen out of that.

Beyond the new direction the creator and thirty year comic veteran revealed to USA Today that the triple sized anniversary issue would also, finally, lead to a digital debut for Spawn.

That’s all well and good but we need details on the next phase for the iconic franchise.

Thankfully he talked about the cover and what is symbolizes:

He’s sitting there in the throne like a king and it’s going to be a lot of the new attitude of what the character’s going to be about moving forward.

So we have Spawn #250 set for January 2015 but following that release a new creative team will begin their run with a one-shot, Spawn Resurrection #1, and continue from #251 and beyond. Who are they? Well Brian Wood will be tackling the text and artist Jonboy Meyers will handle the pencil strokes.

So what say you my fellow fanboys and fangirls? You game for this? Or downright disappointed by it?
