The official description from Top Cow:

THE HONORVERSE EXPANDS TO COMICS! Based on the bestselling military science fiction novels by David Weber, this original comic book series continues the story of Honor Harrington as she investigates the threat to Basilisk Station by the Republic of Haven. This series is part of a new multi-platform story world that includes a mobile game app to be released with the first issue and a feature film currently in development.

Tales of Honor #2 variantTales of Honor got off to a great start being the perfect introduction to the Honorverse. Following up from this we’ve had to wait a few weeks longer than initially expected with it now being almost two months since #1 was released. This however doesn’t bother me as we manage to get a strong continuation to this fascinating series.

Matt Hawkins scripts rarely fail to disappoint with his attention to detail being one of the things that make him such a fabulous writer. His narrations along with character development has always amazes me and now that he’s taken on David Weber’s Honor character he has the responsibility of someone else’s creation. He does however do Weber proud as though I yet to read the novels I am already captivated by this character. Despite this there was a part of me that felt that there was a little too much going on for one issue. Hawkins has stated many times that he likes given readers value for money and though this is something I commend him for there is a negative side to this as it can sometimes hinder the flow of the story.

Sang-Il Jeong takes over the artwork with his painted art being phenomenal and perfectly suited to this sci-fi romp. His sleek detailed pencils and subtle inks make this an eye catching series as though story is always key comics have to also be visually appealing. He also gives intense layouts and brilliant character emotions with it all adding to the overall depth. Despite all this it remains his wonderful colours that captivate me the most with them being very sleek and realistic.

Tales of Honor continues to be a stunning sci-fi series as despite there being a delay with it’s release it was certainly well worth the wait. Highly recommended.
