Will the crew of the Serenity have to find a new ship? Read on to find out.

The official description from Dark Horse:

With help from the New Resistance, Mal and Serenity’s crew are crashing the secret Alliance facility from which River was rescued. She is certain they need to go there—now. Meanwhile, Zoe is in Alliance custody where she discovers that there is more immediate danger from fellow prisoners than anyone else . . .

Serenity Leaves on the Wind #4 variantSerenity: Leaves on the Wind has so far been an excellent continuation from the film as though most Firefly fans would probably agree that a live action return is more wanted, the comic media is the next best thing. This issue does in particular does a fantastic job of following on from last issues surprise character addition and I’m loving seeing the reaction from the Serenity crew members to the Operative.

Zack Whedon has probably produced the best issue of this series yet with the dynamic flow and enthralling developments having me hooked to every page. The way that he utilises these much loved characters is simply amazing showing a brilliant understanding for his brother Joss Whedon‘ creations. The thing that I loved the most however was the constant suspense as whether it was the question of whether to trust the Operative, Zoe’s ordeals or the intense cliffhanger ending it constantly had me gripped.

The artwork is also once again outstanding with Georges Jeanty‘s charming style being awe-inspiring. The way that he captures the overall essence of Whedon’s story is phenomenal with the character’s facial expressions adding the kind of tension and emotion that I loved from the TV series. Jeanty also grabs the readers attention firmly through his layouts which are both smooth and enticing. Add to this Karl Story‘s spectacular inks and Laura Martin‘s fantastic colours and we get a series that is both visually stunning and gripping.

Serenity: Leaves on the Wind continues to be a great continuation from the film and a must have for any Firefly fan. Highly recommended.
