The official description from Image:

A good guy dealt a tough hand, Roscoe’s found the perfect Get-Out-of-Jail-Free Card in the form of super-speed pills called MPH. Now that he knows who put him away, he’ll find that revenge is a dish best served…lightning fast! The all-new Millarworld Universe zooms ahead at breakneck speed with Millar and Fegredo’s urban adventure tale.

MPH02_CoverDMPH shifts into a higher gear as Roscoe decides to share the love with his girlfriend and best friend. The way that the series has transcended from a methodical and detailed start to an energetic and fast paced series really appealed to me. I know that the first issue needed this slightly slower pace to set everything up but in all honesty a story focused on super speed needs a quick pace.

Mark Millar writes an amazing script with the character development and interaction being astonishing. The way that he quickly introduced Rosa and her brother Baseball allowed the issue to get of to a sleek start with Roscoe’s developments bringing the energetic twist. The fun and energy that followed from Roscoe was also fantastic with his bliss adding more charm to the issue as a whole. I also loved seeing the three main characters having fun and the fact they have a plan to improve their lives really intrigued me. I did however find it slightly disappointing that we didn’t see much more of Springfield.

Duncan Fegredo yet again astounded me with his wonderfully layouts and pencils with the overall flow and being extremely dynamic. I also loved how Fegredo showed the emotions of the characters with the facial expressions and body language adding a lot of depth and drama. On top of this he also gives energy during the super fast sequences and along with the fabulous scenery it makes for some stunning panels. Colourists Peter Doherty and Mike Spicer also add some vibrancy and grit to the story as well with their pallet choice giving a wonderful overtone.

MPH starts to speed up with these fun and energetic developments being marvellous. Add to this the character charm and MPH is quickly becoming one of Mark Millar’s best series to date. Highly recommended.
