Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man #6 previewSince it was revealed that the “Peter Parker” of the Ultimate Universe returned the question has been is this the real deal? Is this truly Peter Parker? Or is it just another clone? This issue gives us somewhat of an answer to this question, and though the answer itself is steeped in mystery, it does have some merit behind it. Continuing to back this is the developments over on the Norman Osborn side, with his return giving an indication as to how Peter may have returned.

Brian Michael Bendis rarely fails to deliver when it comes to Ultimate Spider-Man, and he’s not stopping here. Having built a rather intriguing concept around the Peter return, it was nice to see Miles finally get some form of answers. I did however feel that the sequence that revealed this repeated itself slightly, and though the shock effect on Miles side may merit this, as a reader it felt a little lazy. Despite this Bendis still gave one amazing issue, with the Miles/Osborn fight at the end showing exactly why Miles is the Ultimate Spider-Man.

One thing that always impresses me about this series is David Marquez‘ art, with the sheer detail, and sleek layouts being as eye catching as ever. It is however the way that he captures the character emotion that stands out in this issue, as though it’s not to the same level as Peter’s death, it does show just how crazy the situation is. Marquez also produced some exciting action near the end, with the energetic flow being as enticing as ever. The colours of Justin Ponsor and Jason Keith also helped give a vibrant finish, with the smooth mixture of light and dark near the end being mesmerizing.

Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man remains one of the best Marvel comics on my pull, and with the rest of the Ultimate Universe doing so poorly, it’s nice to see this series keep it’s standards. The events within this issue also give some clarity, whilst also leaving a slither of mystery, and for this I highly recommend it.
