Starlight06_CoverBAll good things must come to an end. These worlds have never felt more true than they do right now, as Millarworld brings Starlight to it’s conclusion. Now the question as to whether this series has done enough to be considered one of the creators best is up for discussion, but if it was put down to a vote, I’d definitely be voting it as Mark Millar‘s greatest achievement to date, with the events of this issue allowing it to topple even the first series of Kick-Ass.

Mark Millar definitely pushes the boat out when it comes to wrapping up his Millarworld series’, as though some are clearly more imaginative than others, there’s always signs that they’re well thought out. This is no different here, with his amazing script being both exciting and dramatic. The way that he allows Duke’s mere presence to bring hope to the world Tantalus gives so much depth to this finale, with the fluid movement between sequences allowing for a thoroughly immersive series of events. Millar also manages to neaten up other loose ends, giving a definitive and extremely impressive conclusion that I for one will remember for a long time.

The artwork of Starlight has also impressed over the course of it’s six issue run, with Goran Parlov‘s illustrations giving a very vivid look to this alien world. Along with Ive Svorcina‘s vibrant colours we also get some very lively panels throughout this final issue, with the grand battle near the end irradiating awesomeness. The character expressions also as ever give some engaging moment throughout, with the final page leaving a very memorable ending to this series.

Starlight has been one of the best series Mark Millar has produced since starting up Millarworld, with it’s simply plot and vast scope allowing it to be sensational. This finale only goes to strengthen these feelings, with the price increase being well worth it. Highly recommended.
