“BACK TO CLASS,” Part Three
Enrique hits bottom. He’s facing expulsion and the loss of his girlfriend, but he’s not defeated. As Tyler gloats over his victory, Enrique finds new hope from an unexpected friend when Principal O returns!

FiveWeapons08-Page1Five Weapons has been a very clever and enjoyable series so far with the concept of a school for assassins proving to be rather intriguing. In this issue we get to see Enrique utilise his detective and persuasive skills and though the ending of the opening sequence felt predictable it’s always nice to see him squirm. It was however the last sequence in the issue that impressed me the most as Enrique’s encounter with the Exotic Weapons class proved very thrilling.

Jimmie Robinson‘s scripts are always smart as though some aren’t as enthralling as others they’re always very cleverly handled. This is definitely the case here as he manages to give us some very interesting developments along the way. I also love how he gives us plenty of dialogue and character interaction as with most comics nowadays feeling like pamphlets it’s nice to see one that lasts more than 5-10 minuets without being dull. Added to all this the developments themselves also leave Enrique in a predicament as both a new lead as well as the final sequence of the issue prove problematic for our main character.

Robinson isn’t just a great scribe, he’s also a fantastic artist and once again his beautiful art stands out. The fun and energetic tone along with the smooth layouts make this a very dynamic and punchy series visual wise. It also has a very joyful and slightly comical vibe in this issue with Enrique’s facial expressions being very erratic (but in a good way). We also get fabulous colours from Paul Little who captures the fun tone in a vibrant and exciting manor.

The second arc of Five Weapons has been a blast so far and with the intense and enthralling developments in this issue I can’t wait to see what happens next. Highly recommended.
