The Crow: Pestilence #4 Review

Will Salvador finally get his revenge on the SDC? Read on to find out.

The official description from IDW:

What Salvador thought he knew…what he thought was driving his furious vengeance…has violently shifted. And when a former enemy is revealed as friend, these events converge to change Salvador’s path forever.

The Crow Pestilence #4 variantThe Crow: Pestilence comes to it’s conclusion and following a mixed level of quality it was nice to see it end on a high. This final issue sees Salvador and his family take things to the extreme with the SDC fighting for survival and Salvador striving for the vengeance he rightfully deserves.

Frank Bill has left his best for last with this intense and brutal conclusion being a joy to read. Now all and all The Crow: Pestilence may not be a series that will go down in the history books but this tale of family, misfortune and revenge has been one that has really appealed to me. What I liked most about Bill’s writing in this issue was that having revealed nearly everything during last issue he was able to bring Salvador’s family together with the emotion adding a lot of depth. Bill also did a terrific job of handling the action packed pace of this conclusion as though it may have been slightly too quick the graphic nature smore than made up.

Drew Moss also keeps his best for last with the graphic and brutal nature of his art being out of this world. The detail and intense flow of Moss’ art gave a lot of impact to this issue with the scenery and character positioning also adding depth. Despite the brutality Moss also managed to capture the emotional side of this conclusion beautifully with Salvador and his family’s reactions being very dramatic and realistic. To top things off we also get a nice choice of covers with Crow creator James O’Barr yet again producing the main cover and The Boys artist Darick Robertson producing the subscription variant.

The Crow: Pestilence comes to a gripping conclusion as though the series may not be remembered in years to come it is one that should be read at least once and especially by any Crow fans. Highly recommended.
