TRIPLE HELIX #1 Review

Will Triple Helix live up to its predecessor Trio? Read on to find out!

Official Description:

“Where TRIO stopped, HELIX starts! There’s a MONSTER on the loose in the City… but will the mysterious CHANGELINGS of TRIPLE HELIX destroy it before they realize it’s really an old FRIEND?”

John Byrne has already proven to us that he can write. In the case of Triple Helix, he continues to show that he knows what he’s doing. From the beginning of the issue, it takes off like a rocket and it doesn’t stop. It gives us a basic of idea of where all of our favorite characters are, since Trio and throws in a new chapter in the universe that he has created. Throughout this issue, there is action, misunderstanding, and fear, that captivates the audience in a way that only John Byrne could. It is a fantastic start to a new series.

John Byrne’s art is fantastic. The way that he crafts his illustrations with his words is spot on. That is the one nice thing about having the writer and artist the same person. The way that you get to see what exactly he wanted is something that some comic don’t have. Byrne captures each moment with such detail and depth. I, personally, enjoyed the scenes with Apex because of fighting style he has, makes for interesting panels.

Overall, John Byrne has something really special with Triple Helix. I think as the series continues it will continue to get stronger and stronger.

4.5/5
