Judge Dredd #11 Review

If you love your Judge well done with a side of mash potatoes, the read on for some cooking tips.

Official Description:

“It’s tough living in irradiated flyover country. But it’s even tougher to fight your way through it especially when a mutant hillbilly gang is after your Lawgiver, your Land Raider, and your multi-eyed precog partner, and well. your hide. (‘It’s almost supper time, Paw!’) And what that’s rumbling in the hills? Something 250 million years old, and just itching for a comeback? Judge Dredd’s nightmare road trip to save the soul(s) of Mega-City One continues here! Don’t miss  out, creep!”

Well, if you read the tag line at the beginning and thought, “huh, I wonder if he is a cannibal”, then you will understand the tone of this issue of Judge Dredd. In this issue, Dredd is continuing on his quest to save Mega City, but, like always, someone gets in the way and, boy, are they awful. This includes, meeting a very creative chef that has some interesting take on cuisine. This issue had some very gross out moments but it was awesome.

Duane Swierczynski does an amazing job continuing his story of the bad-ass judge trying to save the citizens of Mega-City. This issue in particular was very story oriented, developing characters that were already established but not really delved into. This, includes, the chef that I spoke of earlier. His story in particular, really allows Swierczynski’s writing to shine. You won’t be disappointed.

The story is completely enhanced with Nelson Daniel’s illustrations. The way that he crafts each picture gives you the since of dread (sorry for the pun) because he understands how to show it. Along with that, Daniel, gives a real since of urgency with his style that helps bring forth the story even more because of the way that it ends.

Overall, this was an awesome issue of Judge Dredd. I don’t know if the characters in this one will be around for many issues but I hope so because they are very interesting.
