Original Sin #0 Review

Are you ready for the biggest Marvel event to date? Well here is my review of the prologue that will set the whole thing in motion. Read on to find out more.

“IT’S THE PROLOGUE TO THE BIGGEST MARVEL SERIES OF THE SUMMER! WHO IS THE WATCHER? That’s what Nova is wondering after his latest brush with the moon-dwelling enigma he’s encountered before! But what he discovers will have a profound effect on the young hero, as well as priming the pump for the most cataclysmic event in Marvel history! WHAT DID HE SEE?”

Okay when I heard about the premise of Original Sin, I thought it sounded so cool and detail (1)that it was going to be amazing. This issue is mostly a prologue to the story that will set into motion a tidal wave of problems. The issue starts with our young Nova who is wandering the stars when he runs into The Watcher. This is where he learns some of the great things that The Watcher can do. The chemistry between these two is really nice the way that they talk and share in this experience is nice. It shows a little different side to both characters, especially The Watcher, who is always a little off.

Now, I will give you a full disclaimer, while this issue is very informative about The Watcher and Nova, it is a little anti-climatic which can disappoint some people, but this is just the prologue so well will have to judge after it really gets going.

The writing for this is issue is quite nice. Mark Waid has a nice way of giving us the perspective of Nova. The issue is written through his voice and adds a childlike wonder to the whole piece. It is a nice touch to the story because of the omnipresence of The Watcher. Jim Cheung and Paco Medina add a very nice touch to issue as artists. They give us this vast world to see in different colors and perspectives. It is a very nice touch.

Original Sin #0 is a great start to a huge event that will change the Marvel Universe.
