Oddly Normal #2

Has the series with the unlikable character gotten better? Read on to find out more.

Oddly Normal’s parents and house may have vanished off the face of the earth, but things go from bad to weird when her dotty Great Aunt arrives on the scene.

If you didn’t read my first review of this series then you will not know that I didn’t really like the first issue. It OddlyNormal-Issue2-Cover-FULLdidn’t have a compelling characters and it was just very negative. Now, this issue still has its issues but, overall, the issue is a huge improvement from the last issue. This issue starts with Oddly’s aunt coming to visit her for her birthday and she finds that Oddly’s family and house are gone. I will not ruin the ending of the comic for those of you who really want to read this but it does end with some troubling news and an awesome look at fignation. Now the character of the Aunt is really cool and and adds a nice change from Oddly. I will say that Oddly has grown a little more likable. She is starting to show shines of remorse, which is a nice change pace. For the most part, this is an improvement of the comic but it is really short and doesn’t do much to increase the story in a strong way.

Otis Frampton does double duty as writer and artist, which I commend him on. It is not an easy feat to be, both, writer and artist but it does allow the writer to really show us their vision, so I applaud him on that. The writing is getting better but it doesn’t do enough for me to fall in love with the characters. I am, also, not really into the actual story. The mystery is not enough to keep me engaged. Although, the art is pretty great and adds a great dynamic to the comic.

Oddly Normal #2 is a very underwhelming comic.
