Goners #1 Review

A new series that is, both, horror and mystery. Is it worth the read? Read on to find out more.

“WE ALL FALL DOWN,” Part One From the colonization of Roanoke to the Cold War, the world famous Latimer Family has been humanity’s lone defense against paranormal horrors for centuries…until tonight. A deadly assault on the lineage forces an unprepared brother and sister to solve their parents’ murder while trying to escape the grim landscape of horrors that stalk the children themselves.

When I see a new horror comic come out, I usually grad it with three points in mind; Story, Mystery, and Gore. Goners01_webI am happy to say that new Image comic “Goners” excels at all three of these. The story is about a brother and sister who are at home watching the news, where an important person has been killed under mysterious circumstances. Their parents are called in to take of it because they are the paranormal experts. However, this turns for the worst when their parents are murdered by creatures that are resembling of zombies mixed with ghosts. No with the help of their parents co-worker and some of the police, they must track down the murder and figure out the mystery behind it all. It is gory with some horror elements and mystery. All things needed for a perfect horror comic

Jacob Semahn is a fantastic writer, who not only helps like the world that he is setting up but, also, the characters that are within it. Even though it is the first issue, we feel for these kids and really want to be on the journey to help them figure out the murder.

When it comes to art, Jorge Corona, knows what we want as an audience. The world is brought to life with color and interesting panels that will any comic/horror enthusiasts.

Goners is a great start and interesting concept that shines.
