I’ve been reading Ed Brubaker’s Captain America run for almost a decade now, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that ol’ Eddy needs a really dynamic artist to keep his stories flowing. And as much as I love Alan Davis, I’m not sure he’s the right guy for the job.
Listen, I know Davis is one of the most iconic illustrators in the business, but his style is, dare I say… archaic. Or, perhaps, I should say it kinder… his style is ‘classical’. And that traditional, superhero aesthetic doesn’t mesh well with Brubaker’s captivating, neo-noir tales.
Think I’m right? Or am I just being an ass? In any case, check out our preview below.
