ASSASSIN’S CREED: ROGUE Has Two Generic Gameplay Videos Now

The new Assassin’s Creed that’s coming exclusively to Xbox 360 and PS3 has two new gameplay trailers. I’ll talk about them separately because one shows off gameplay on land and the other is naval gameplay, you can watch the videos below.

The land gameplay looks exactly the same as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, a bit of a copy and paste job. One of the few new ideas include the player controlling a Templar, which I’m fine with, because I’ve given up caring about Assassin’s Creed’s integrity, so I don’t care that you’re playing as a Templar for the sake of it, even though in the rest of the games you’ve played as an Assassin. But the game still consists of more of the same. In the gameplay video, the player still has to go to some island and liberate it or something. All I know is that he went to blow up barrels, take down a flag, and kill an Assassin.

I was hoping this would be great, I was hoping for an epic fight between an evenly matched Templar and Assassin, this didn’t happen. Sadly, once you find the Assassin he just runs away from you and you have to kill his guards in the same boring formula of attacks we’ve had since AC III. Check out the video below and when you’re done, lie down next to the fridge door, open it, give it a swing until it comes back and hits your face at full force. And repeat.

And as for the naval gameplay, there’s nothing special here. There’s a couple of new gun mechanics on your new ship, and Haytham is there for some reason. The best thing they’ve shown is the fact that other ships can now board your ship, which honestly should have been added to Black Flag. It’s not much of an ask, really. Oh, and you can go through ice because the game is set in the Arctic because it feels like it. Check out the video if you can bear it.

What do you think? Does this game look good? Or am I right to be cynical? Let us know in the comments!
