Nintendo Announces 3DS XL

Nintendo released another Nintendo Direct presentation last night, and one of the major bombshells dropped was a redesign of the 3DS, named 3DS XL. It lives up to it’s XL name with a top screen of 4.88″ and a bottom screen at 4.18″ making the screens 90% bigger than the 3DS, it will still run at the same resolution however. In addition to the size increase, the battery life has been upped form 3-5 hours to 3.5 to 6.5 hours. It will come with a 4GB card over the 2GB that it currently comes with.

America will see the release of this new design on the 19th August and will set you back $199, it launches the same day as New Super Mario Bros 2 and is available in red and blue. In Europe it’s coming out slightly earlier on 28th July with a red, blue and a black and silver version as well. Weirdly though, the Japanese and European release won’t be getting a charger with it. Not really sure what Nintendo were thinking on that one.
