LITTLE MAC Punches Out The Competition in Next SUPER SMASH BROS!

screen-1Yesterday, during their Nintendo Direct conference, Nintendo revealed an all-new playable character for their upcoming fighter, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. The newcomer is none other than boxer Little Mac!

Little Mac hails from the Punch-Out!! boxing video game series, with the latest installment being released for the Wii in 2009. Interestingly, Little Mac appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as an Assist Trophy (One of the cooler one, might I add), so he isn’t technically a new-comer to the games. He was one of the most asked for characters ever since, so it seems Nintendo has answered our calls.

At Nintendo Direct, Little Mac also got a cool trailer, featuring his boxing moves, punctuated by encouraging remarks from Mac’s personal trainer. The trailer is pretty cool. Obviously, many of the characters can throw a punch, but Mac’s seem particularly painful!

Another thing of note is that Little Mac seems to have some kind of meter, a meter that has been used in the Punch-Out!! games. Its unknown what exactly the meter is used for so far, but it seems it may have something to do with Mac’s Final Smash (which looks pretty grotesque, IMO)

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U and 3DS will be released for said consoles late this year, and will feature over 20 characters (Mac was the 23rd). Masahiro Sakurai (Smash Bros. series, Kid Icarus: Uprising) is returning to direct the game.
