TERMINATOR: GENISYS Sounds like CRAP

Ever since I snuck into my parent’s movie collection and popped in a VHS copy of the original flick that birthed these shenanigans I’ve been an avid fan of this mechanically enthused franchise. But if what’s been uncovered turns out to be true I’m left pissed and begging for that ill-fated Terminator Salvation sequel.

Terminator 1984

Thanks to an apparent script leak we might have mutiple Kyle characters (Connor and Reese), who may be the same person from two different timelines which is an interpretation of the alleged plot that I’m not comfortable with. And for good measure we get the first T-800 and an aged one that fights to the death. And did I mention the latest cybernetic organism? Behold the T-2000 (whatever that is). Want more? Violence, decapitation and an apparently altered ending that had the savior of mankind in a less savory role.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD

It all adds up to a movie that might just kill the aged and, sadly, increasingly irrelevant franchise.

  • In the future John rescues his son Kyle from a work camp. He and his men send the young warrior back to save his grandmother in 1994.
  • It should be noted that the events of the original 1984 flick still occur in this altered timeline, more or less.
  • Somehow in the past the first Cyberdyne systems model 101 confronts an older T-800 (not clear why or how he’s there) and a fight ensues.
  • The old Terminator fails and the young one is captured by the resistance (guess they existed in the 80s). It’s then reprogrammed to become the ever present guardian for Sarah and John Connor in 1994 (which makes me wonder what the other Kyle is there for except unnecessary plot confusion).
  • In 1994 the mother of the future is on the run for blowing up that nefarious company who happens to birth Skynet. Because of the revamped past there are two versions of Kyle with her.

Here’s a more detailed description for what happens next:

One knows he’s John’s father (Kyle Reese), one doesn’t (Kyle Connor). Reese dies a gallant death just like in the original movie. During all this, a ‘T-2000′ played by Lee Byung-Hun is also giving chase. As the Connor’s are attempting to destroy Skynet, the aged T-800 is beheaded by the T-2000, which is about to Terminate the Connors. But just in time they destroy all Skynet data, and the T-2000 along with Kyle Connor disappears. Sarah Connor cries because she has lost Kyle again, but remarks… the future is not set.

Right off the bat I want to say that I DON’T WANT TO BELIEVE ANY OF THIS! It sounds overly complicated for a Terminator film. If this is how Genisys is going to turn out then that awful third movie, which I had a truck load of problems with, might not be the worst this saga has to offer anymore.

But what do my fellow fanboys and fangirls think? Does this sound false? Could it possibly be true? Is there anything mentioned here that you’re on board with?
