Nick Frost Leads Guest Stars For DOCTOR WHO Christmas Special

Doctor Who is no stranger to special guest stars, this is true. But an upcoming Christmas episode will have its fair share of British movie and television stars. The most noted on the list of guests is Cornetto Trilogy actor Nick Frost.

Known for playing opposite of Simon Pegg in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and World’s End, Nick is flying solo for this adventure with the Doctor in Christmas.

Show writer and handler, Steven Moffat, spoke with a bit of excitement about Frost:

Frost at Christmas – it just makes sense! I worked with Nick on the Tintin movie many years ago and it’s a real pleasure to lure him back to television for a ride on the TARDIS.

Very interesting. Does this mean that Frost will actually get to be IN the Tardis? And, I’m sure I know better than to ask if he could stick around, right? Nick would make a classic companion and fit in so well. Imagine his brass, awkward behavior coupled with the crotchety, old antics of Peter Capaldi. But, best not get our hopes up.

Speaking with even more excitement is Nick Frost:

I’m so thrilled to have been asked to guest in the Doctor Who Christmas Special, I’m such a fan of the show. The read-through was very difficult for me; I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream ‘No spoilers!’ Every day on set I’ve had to silence my internal fan-boy squeals!

Also appearing is Michael Troughton, who appeared in the television series Breathless just last year and made a cameo on Jonathan Creek. Michael is sort of a second generation Doctor Who star as his father, Patrick Troughton, starred as the second Doctor replacing William Hartnell.

Nathan McMullen is also starring in the special. You might remember him from Misfits fame. Personally, I loved him and that whole show ,and look forward to seeing what kind of character he brings to Doctor Who.

They will be joined by Natalie Gumede (Coronation Street) and Faye Marsay (Pride, Glue).

Just makes me that much more eager to get to Christmas and open my presents!
