Lizzy Caplan’s not going to be in S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Despite Lizzy Caplan being apart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe via the upcoming short: Item 47 (you can read our review here), the actress says she’s too busy to be a recurring character on the forthcoming television series.

Here’s what she said during a press junket for her upcoming comedy 3, 2, 1… Frankie Goes Boom:

I can’t really…I have my own show so I will not be a regular on the Marvel ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ show. But I’m glad people are so excited about that. I think it’s a good idea… Maybe I could do some little thing.

Yes, this might not be Eath-shattering megaton news, but do you guys think she should be a regular on the show?  Is the fact that she might not have a big part to play a potential mistake?  I don’t know, I honestly think she’s not essential by any stretch of the imagination.  Perhaps she could at least be a soft-recuring character similar to how shows like Supernatural or Once Upon a Time handle their tiertiary but consistent guests?
