Huge Playstation Bargain

If you caught the Sony E3 press conference a few days back you may have heard mention of something called the Instant Game Collection. Well as of yesterday, it has arrived and it is well worth the money. Playstation+ is the premium service on the Playstation Network costing £40 a year or £7 a month. If you are a Plus subscriber, you receive free games to download every month, discounts most weeks on the latest games and access to closed betas. This new feature, Instant Game Collection includes 10 free games that will always be available to PS+ subscribers. Every month, three of those games will swap out and three new ones will be added. The only catch is that if your subscription drops, you can’t play them. As soon as you resume the subscription the content is unlocked and you can carry on.

Here’s the first batch of games available for the Instant Game Collection:

LittleBigPlanet 2 – £19.99 – 91 Metacritic

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – £49.99 – 70 Metacritic

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown – £9.99 – New Release

Chime Super Deluxe – £7.19 – 78 Metacritic

Darksiders – £11.99 – 83 Metacritic

Renegade Ops – £9.99 – 80 Metacritic

Outland – £7.99 – 83 Metacritic

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD – £9.99 – 82 Metacritic

Motorstorm Apocalypse – £19.99 – 77 Metacritic

That works out to just under £200 worth of content (more if you include Mushroom Wars and Magics Orbs – available until 20th June) with an average Metacritic rating of 81 for a £7 month subscription if you could play all of that in one month, or £40 for a year. Of course with a year subscription you would get a further 33 more games (at the rate of 3 swap in games per month) plus all of the discounts and betas. If you play your playstation with any kind of regularity there is great value to be found here so don’t miss out!
