Agent Coulson In DAREDEVIL And IRON FIST TV Shows?

If there’s one Marvel guy who’s been around the block, it’s agent Phil Coulson. He’s hung out with Avengers, tussled with Hydra agents, fought cyborgs, lead his own team of globe-trotting S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, the list goes on. Now, Clark Gregg wants to explore the street level side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview with Moviepilot, Gregg was asked on the chances of his appearing Marvel’s upcoming Netflix shows, and this was his response:

I’d be really disappointed if I don’t get to show up in New York for Daredevil, or Iron Fist was a huge favorite of mind in comic books as a kid. I’ve had more than my share so I shouldn’t be greedy but it would be a huge geekout moment for me if I got to meet Daniel Rand.

I always get a kick when an actor mentions a more obscure superhero as one of their favorites. Anyone can say they liked Batman, Superman and Spider-Man as a kid, but mentioning someone like Iron Fist proves this guy really dug Marvel back in the day.

However, as far as cinematic appearances go, Gregg confirmed that the chances of him appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron is slim at this point.

I don’t think so. I think I would have heard about it by now, but I must say as a qualifier, the only way I ever hear about stuff like that is I get a weird phone message with not the right number of numbers on it and somebody says, “We need to talk to you.”

Even though Coulson’s got his hands full busy rebuilding S.H.I.E.L.D. right now, an appearance in a few of the Netflix shows would be okay…but only a guest appearance! Look, more Coulson is always a good thing, but the guy is already leading one TV show right now. If he wants to help out Matt Murdock or Danny Rand for an episode, fine, but leave it at that.

These shows are about the urban crime around New York City. Coulson and the S.H.I.E.L.D. gang should be busy stopping Hydra agents or 0-8-4s (objects of unknown origin) halfway across the world. Leave the fights against Kingpin and Bullseye to the street heroes…sorry, does Iron Fist even have any arch-enemies?
