2013 Fall Anime Preview Part 2

Welcome back anime fans to Unleash The Fanboy’s fall anime preview! We have another list of anime premiering this fall for you to feast your eyes on so let’s get started.

Part 1

I Couldn’t Become A Hero So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job (Yu-Bisu)

Raul had always wanted to be a hero, but failed the exams necessary to become one. He reluctantly took a job working at a small electronics store called Magic Shop Leon. His life is dull but busy until a new girl comes applying for a part time job. She’s the daughter of the demon king who defeated him in his exam.

– Crunchyroll

Based on the light novel series by Jun Sakyo and produced by studio asread (who produced Future Diary & Shuffle!), I Couldn’t Become A Hero seems to be a series in the same vein as springs The Devil is Part Time (which featured the Devil working at a fast food restaurant) and based on the trailer it also looks like it is going to focus alot on the…plot, the big, bouncy, & soft plot.

Log Horizon

The MMO game Elder Tale, has become a global sensation, boasting millions of players. However when the game’s 12 expansion pack is released, 30,000 Japanese players find themselves transported into the game and have taken on the appearance of their game avatars. A gamer named Shiroe creates a guild named Log Horizon along with his friends Naotsugu and Akatsuki in order to face this brave new world ahead of them.

Based on the novel series written by Mamare Touno and illustrated by Kazuhiro Hara, Log Horizon is being produced by Satelight (who also produced Hellsing Ultimate, Bodacious Space Pirates, & Aquarion Evol, as well as co-producing Fairy Tail with A-1 Pictures) and looks to be a show in the same vein as the .hack series and last year’s mega  hit Sword Art Online but it looks like it will actually go more into detail about the game being introduced into the series (which SAO didn’t). This looks like a welcome addition to the “players trapped in a virtual world” genre.

Magi: The Kingdom of Magic

The second season to last year’s hit Magi: Labyrinth of Magic (which was reviewed here on Unleash The Fanboy!), Magi: The Kingdom of Magic continues to follow the adventures of Alibaba and his friends as they explore the world and all of it’s vast dungeons.

Still being produced by A-1 Pictures, Kingdom of Magic boasts more djinn’s, more dungeons, more characters, and an all around bigger adventure.

Also check out the premiere of the dub of the first season on Neon Alley this month!

Meganebu!

Akira Souma is a student at at the rural Himalaya Third Technical school who is a huge fanatic for glasses. He forms the “Glasses Club” and forces his classmates Takuma, Yukiya, Mitsuki, & Hayato (who all wear glasses) to join. Together the Glasses Club gets into all kinds of antics all for their love of eye-wear.

Produced by Studio Deen (who also produced the Patlabor OVAs and movie, Ranma 1/2, Ruroni Kenshin, Rave Master, & Is This A Zombie? among others) Meganebu is a comedic slice-of-life that looks as if has lots of energy behind it. While the animation looks a bit subpar, it still might turn out to be a pretty good watch.

Miss Monochrome – The Animation

In this short animated series, Miss Monochrome is an android who decides to try and become a top idol singer in the ever growing competitive market.

– Crunchyroll

Created by Japanese singer and Seiyuu (Voice Actress) Yui Horie (she also voices the titular character), Miss Monochrome looks like an interesting series that will explore Japan’s popular “Idol” lifestyle.

Nagi No Asukara

Long ago, all humans lived in the ocean. But some who longed for the land abandoned the ocean, casting off the special raiments granted to them by the sea god to adapt them to life under the sea…

The show follows two middle school children, Manaka & Hikari, and their adventures in the deep blue sea.

Produced by P.A. Works (who also produced Angel Beats!, Another, and also partially produced the Evangelion 1.0 and Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa movies), Nagi No Asukara looks pretty good, with some unique character designs and some lucious designs. The moe level on this show is certainly high and it has crafted a pretty interesting world for itself.

Outbreak Company

Shinichi’s mission is to bring “otaku culture” to this new world in order to facilitate effective commerce between the two worlds. As an expert in anime, light novels, manga, and dating sims, Shinichi is revered and admired in the new world, and an unexpectedly fulfilling real life awaits him!

– Crunchyroll

Based on the Light Novel of the same name and produced by Studio Feel (who did the finish animations for Trinity Blood, the in-bewteen animation for Ghost in The Shell: SAC, and produced Shikabane Hime) Outbreak Company looks like a rather interesting series. The trailer boasts some decent animation and a few colorful characters. SO it could be worth checking out.

Samurai Flamenco

Male model Maseyoshi Hazama decides to become a superhero despite having no special abilities or technology to aid him. He becomes Samurai Flamenco, fighting crime all in the name of justice. When police officer Hidenori Goto finds out Flamenco’s secret identity by accident, he gets caught in loads of trouble thanks to the intrepid hero. Together the two face the hardships of being a crime fighter as well as find out what it really means to be a “hero of justice”.

Directed by Takahiro Omori (Director of Durarara and Baccano) as well as another original production by Studio Manglobe (producers of hit anime Samurai Champloo and Michiko & Hatchin) Samurai Flamenco essentially sounds like a cross between Batman and Kamen Rider, which is pretty kick ass. With Omori directing and Manglobe taking care of the animation, Samurai Flamenco is definitely a show to watch for this season.

Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! (Wanna Be the Strongest in the World)

Hagiwara Sakura and Miyazawa Erena are the leading members of a popular idol group Sweet. One day, Erena is injured by the attack of a female pro-wrestler Kazama Rio during the recording of a TV program. Sakura gets mad at Rio and gives her a dropkick. To avenge Erena, Sakura enters the female pro-wrestling matches.

– Anime News Network

Based on the manga by ESE and produced by Arms Corporation (who produced Elfen Lied, Ikki Tousen Dragon Destiny & Great Guardians, as well as helping on production for Bleach: Memories of Nobody), Wanna be the Strongest in the World (Sekatsuyo for short) is another show about big boobed babes fighting but instead of high flying martial arts (like Ikki Tousen) it focuses on pro wrestling (which was the selling point for yours truly). Suffice to say I will be watching this show for the plot…don’t look at me like that I’m serious!

Strike The Blood

The fourth primogenitor is the most powerful vampire once thought to exist only in the world of legends. Yet when it appears in Japan, the government for some reason chooses an apprentice “sward shaman”, Yukina Himeragi, to observe and obliterate it. Bewildered by the disproportionate task and its specific details, Yukina arrives at the Demon District of Itogami-jima to watch Akatsuki Kojo, and a student at a private high school on Itogami-jima.

– Crunchyroll

Based off the light novel series by Gakuto Mikumo and produced by SILVER LINK (producers of both seasons of Baka & Test, Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, as well as the summer seasons PRISMA ILLYA, & WataMote) and Connect, Strike the Blood is another vampire anime but strays away from Vampire Knight and follows more of Trinity Blood with the amounts of action and blood. I also get faint hints of A Certain Magical Index, but that may only because the male lead sort of looks like Accelerator. Regardless Strike the Blood looks like the series for action anime fans.

Walkure Romanze

Takahiro Mizuno ia a young man who acts as advisor for the riders of his academy’s jousting team. Due to an odd set of circumstances, Takehiro’s childhood friend Mio is enrolled into the school’s competition. Knowing she’s never ridden a horse in her life, Takahiro becomes Mio’s coach.

Based on the visual novel from Ricotta and produced by studio eight bit (who produced Aqurion Evol and Inifnite Stratos, as well as doing the in-between animations on Fairy Tail, Panty & Stocking, and summers Gatchman Crowds). Walkure Romanze looks like your typical romance/harem anime based on trailer and seeing as how the visual novel was adult oriented, you can expect more than a little bit of fanservice. Despite all that WR does have something interesting going for it since it focuses on jousting, which is an odd choice to focus a sports series on. So this will be worth watching for curiosity sake.
