Classic X-MEN Villain Returns in DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

This news is a bit spoiler laden, as seems all of our breaking content lately, so if you’d like to maintain your DAYS OF FUTUE PAST chastity, turn your precious little eyes away now. I highly recommend our piece on Apocalypse in Days of Future Past, since we totally called that big baddie’s appearance before any other outlet.

Now, onto more pressing matters, let’s talk about this classic X-Men villain who’ll make an appearance in Days of Future Past. No, it’s not Magneto, since that gray haired minx has appeared in LITERALLY every teamup flick since the franchise started in 2000. And unfortuntely, we’re not talking about the return of Liev Schreiber’s Sabretooth, although that’d be pretty damn awesome.

TOAD! That’s who’ll be returning to the X-Men cinematic universe. You remember him, right? Storm kinda struck him with a lightning bolt in the very first X-Men flick, and unfortunately the baddie never returned, since X-Men 2 took a divergent course towards new villains (although Magneto and Mystique were still around).

Well, according to actor Evan Jonigkeit has recently revealed that he’s the amphibious villain:

“It’s a really incredible thing to be a part of. I was so stoked to be working with all of these people. It was a really crazy experience. I read a lot of the comic books. I found out the storyline of my character, who is Toad. X-Men fans will know that Ray Park played him in the first movie, so it’s a generation story of how he came to be. It’s really cool. The aesthetics of the character are much different, and I’m not really allowed to say a whole lot more than that. It’s darker. I would say it’s a darker tone.”

Hmmm… he’s a pretty damn grotesque character to focus on. I assume he’ll be part of Mystique’s band of misfits, as she’s the main villain in this film. Which, by the way, is pretty damn convenient. Mystique is among the villains in the original Days of Future Past comic (I won’t reveal any further for fear of spoiling the whole film), and Jennifer Lawrence is insanely popular right now. Synergy. Convergence. All them good things.
