Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN.

The geeky headline so nice, I had to say it twice.

This news come from our friends at Variety, who, unlike the less established media of fandom, are actually reliable for their scoops. They were first to claim Gal Gadot auditioned for a female role in Batman vs Superman, and while we all not-so-secretly hoped that role would be Wonder Woman, we had no way to verify… until now.

Zack Snyder, director of Man of Steel and the head honcho behind its Ben Affleck fortified sequel, had this to say:

“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character,

I honestly have no dog in this fight, as I’m not a diehard Wonder Woman fan, so I’ll happily agree with Snyder on this issue. The real question, it would seem, is if Batman vs Superman will remain a proper sequel to Man of Steel? And, for that matter, a proper silver screen adaptation focusing on those two characters? Or will the inclusion of Wonder Woman, whatever size her role may be, transform this project into a Justice League Movie?

If Zack Snyder’s not careful, this flick could easily swell into Justice League Light: Half the Characters, Half the Calories. A concept which I’d whole heartily welcome with open fanboy arms (you know, the chunky arms with an incomplete tattoo sleeve), but it’d be a different tale than we were promised with a strictly Batman vs Superman story.

Heyo. I'm Nick Dourian, the Editor-In-Chief around these parts. Now, I went to a few other sites, read a few awesome bios, and I really want to fabricate a badass origins story for myself, but I'm feeling particularly unimaginative today, so 'f' that jazz. I read comics, drink bourbon, and cook meats. Imagine Ron Swanson, but with a fuller beard and cuter eyes.
