What if the Avengers Was Made in the 80’s?

If you’re a long time visitor of UTF, then you probably know that we have an obsession with revisionist art. Whether it’s the cute remixes of the Community cast or hilarious LEGO trailers, we’ve got a fever, and the only cure is more cowbell…and by that, I mean revisionist art.

Well, it just so happens that our friend and creature designer Alex Tuis has made a complete portrait lineup of his favorite Marvel Superheroes. He loves anything that’s related to the House of Ideas, so this recent slew of superhero movies has really made his proverbial ‘day’. But he has one grievance…and that’s the actors. Tuis has certain folks in mind for these iconic Marvel roles, and he’s taken the liberty of designing these portraits with those actors in mind. The resulting mixture has a very “Avengers of the 80’s” vibe to it, with a few notable exceptions.

What’d you guys think? The Rutger Hauer one was easily my favorite. I kinda wish that he was the star of Thor, and that the movie was shot in the 80’s with the original cast and crew from Blade Runner. Now that would have been one hell of a movie!
