Mortals! If thou have not seen the SDCC footage of THOR : The Dark World , please avert your eyes immediately!
Rest, follow me!
In the footage of the upcoming movie THOR : The Dark World shown at SDCC last weekend, one particular scene at the end of the sizzle reel caught everyone’s attention. Particularly those of us who consider ourselves fans of HBO’s hit tv series Game Of Thrones. The scene’s description is as follows:
The final moment of the Thor 2 footage shows Loki severing Thor’s right hand just as Mjolnir was airbound back to him.
Can anyone say Jaime Lannister De Ja Vu? Or is Marvel going the Luke Skywalker Route? (Disney does own both you know)
Chris Hemsworth had the following to say about the scene in question:
“I can’t say too much more about it. But I will tell you that’s not the worst thing that he has to worry about along the way. Maybe I will have to learn to use the hammer with the left hand, you know? Or I was thinking of maybe just attaching it. I could ram it straight down into the stump. That would be very Game Of Thrones in approach.”
Speaking of Game of Thrones, THOR : The Dark World is directed by Alan Taylor, who has directed more than a few episodes of Game of Thrones, and notes the “strange parallels” between Ser Jaime Lannister and Thor. Well for one they’re both tall, blonde and gorgeous, and they’re both siblings to a cunning manipulative chess master figure.
Hmm. Can we expect Emilia Clarke in a surprise cameo as Valkyrie then?
THOR : The Dark World releases on November 8 2013 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Christopher Eccleston, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
