Skyfall gets it’s Quartermaster

This may not come as much as a surprise as it had been speculated since Ben Whishaw was cast in the upcoming James Bond flick, but today Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, producers of SKYFALL™, the 23rd James Bond adventure, have confirmed today that Ben Whishaw will be portraying the character of Q.

Whishaw will be the fourth actor to take up the mantle of James Bond’s gadget man Q, following in the footsteps of Peter Burton, Desmond Llewelyn (who played the character in no less than 17 Bond films between 1963-1999!), and John Cleese (who first appeared as Q’s assistant, R, in The World is Not Enough and was later promoted to Q in the lackluster Die Another Day).

Check out the officially released image of Ben below and tell us your thoughts, is he too young? Too nerdy? Too good looking? We’re huge fans of the Bond books here at UTF and whilst it certainly is nice to see familiar characters resurfacing we hope that the new film retains the tone of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace which were far more faithful to the literary Bond that Sir Ian Flemming created.
