Simon Pegg Explains Why He Won’t Be in ‘ANT-MAN’

Well true believers, it’s official: Simon Pegg is NOT playing Ant-Man in Marvel’s upcoming feature. In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, the actor stated outright the reasons why: he doesn’t think it’s a good move.

Simon-Pegg136096659+(1)If I was Edgar [Wright], I wouldn’t cast me in Ant-Man, because I think he obviously has to spread his wings as a director and be seen not to just come with me as a package. We need to do things separately so we don’t ultimately get seen as coming as a double act. You know, Ant-Man would be enormous fun to be in, but I think Ant-Man himself has to be a lot younger than me for a start. And there probably isn’t a part for me. If Edgar asked me, I’d think about it. But as his friend and his lawyer, I would advise strongly against asking me.”

There you have it fellow fanboys. One name  has been scratched off the list to play Marvel’s ‘Scientist Supreme’ (personally I think that title should go to Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic but oh well).  Now the search for the Ant-Man lead is down to two names: Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Rudd  himself said little about his involvement when asked by Absolute Radio, simply stating “That’s all rumors, man. There’s nothing I know, sorry.” Too bad his facial expression and tone suggests otherwise.

Ant-Man is set to arrive on July 31, 2015. Expect casting announcements real soon.
