Resident Asgardian Fatty RAY STEVENSON Raves About THOR : THE DARK WORLD

Don’t let the title confuse you, Ray Stevenson is usually a dapper British gentleman, but to properly portray Marvel’s favorite Asgardian glutton on the big screen, the thespian dons a Fatty Mcfatterson suit and a crinkley, ginger beard. That insider info really has nothing to do with his comments regarding THOR : THE DARK WORLD, but I thought I should make amends for my semi-crass title.

Anyway…

Stevenson will return to Thor’s side as the lovable meal muncher, Volstagg, and while he was out conducting interviews with the press, he let this slip about the upcoming Marve sequel:

“Asgard’s under great threat, I mean the biggest threat it’s ever had. The worlds have been turned upside down, the stakes are a lot higher, it’s a lot grittier and darker. It’s gonna be a lot of fun! I saw Christopher Eccleston on set two or three times. The man is just a construement sort of, malevolent, dark force. He’s under so much …make-up that took hours and hours [to apply]. It takes a lot, but he’s bringing something very very dark and special to it. There’s always potential [for Volstagg to show up in The Avengers sequel]. There’s always room for a big guy in the end.”

While I doubt the big guy will show up in The Avengers (he’s insanely outclassed by the other resident face smasher, Hulk), his high praise of THE DARK WORLD ‘s action and scope are cause for celebration. Even though I enjoyed the romantic comedy aspects of the first film, I’d like to see Asgard unleashed in all of its glory.
