Men in Black 3 Becomes Highest-Grossing Men in Black

It’s Sony Pictures’ lucky weekend. On the same day that their summer superhero tentpole The Amazing Spider-Man made $50M in just thirteen international territories, it’s been announced that threequel Men in Black 3 has surpassed the first Men in Black‘s $589M to become the highest-grossing movie of the trilogy. It’s currently at $599.4M, which means it should hit the $600M mark in the next couple of days.

MIB3‘s success comes as something of a surprise – it’s the belated threequel in a franchise that died for most people back in 2002 with Men in Black II, squaring off against the might of The Avengers, amongst other major blockbusters – yet it’s come out as the third highest grossing movie of the year so far…
