A new rumor coming from BleedingCool might see Doctor Who star Matt Smith taking an unnamed role in Star Wars Episode 7. They don’t name the role or even their source but the rumor is there none-the-less. Details concerning if Matt talked to J.J. or auditioned, aren’t given either. This isn’t the first Stephen Moffat alumni being linked for the seventh installment. Sherlock‘s Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness, Hobbit Trilogy) has been linked more than a few times for a villain role. LatinoReview is under the impression Ben is a lock for a role. Some have voiced their opposition to J.J. Abrams having an actor from his Star Trek franchise taking a role in Episode 7.

It sounds like Abrams and Lucasfilm are looking at everyone involved with the film industry for roles. Considering Lucasfilm’s casting department is currently taking audition tapes from everyone with access to a camera. Other actors linked/rumored include Jason Flemyng (X-Men First Class, Welcome To The Punch, Kick-Ass), Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station, Chronicle) , Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, Atonement) , David Oyelowo (Planet of The Apes, The Butler, Jack Reacher) , Miles Teller, Rachel Hurd-Wood (Peter Pan, Perfume), Liam McIntyre (Spartacus), Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike), Sullivan Stapleton (Strike Back, Animal Kingdom, 300: Rise of An Empire, Gangster Squad) and the legendary Daniel Day-Lewis. Episode VII is looking at a December 18th 2015 release date.
