Marc Webb Returns for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3

Marc Webb’s already done the unusual feat of directing a movie and its sequel (unusual for 2014, anyhow) – and Variety have confirmed that he’ll be returning for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, seemingly the last movie starring Spider-Man before the franchise goes into spin-off territory.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3, the third movie in what might actually end up being a trilogy (after the whole will-they-won’t they on the ‘fourth installment), will be released in 2016, ensuring that our next dose of Spidey action/latest dose of coin for Sony won’t be very far away at all. Even better, we’re roughly twenty months away from the ten different trailers for the movie coming out!

Sony head Amy Pascal has also confirmed that thanks to the Sinister Six and Venom spin-offs, Sony will be cranking out one Spidey universe movie a year. Not only does that pencil in one of the spin-offs for a 2017 release if we take the remark at face value, it also means that Sony Pictures might be a decent shot if you’re looking to buy shares soon.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out on 2 May, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is out on 6 June 2016, and Sinister Six and Venom will be out in some point in the near future.
