Legendary has taken to Twitter to announce that Daniel Wu (Europa Report) and genre darling Clancy Brown (Highlander, Cowboys And Aliens, Starship Troopers) have joined the cast of Duncan Jones’ Warcraft. The cast is expected to be rather large as it will tell the story of both human and orc kingdoms. Some of the other actors include Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paul Patton (Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, 2 Guns), Ben Foster (X3, 3:10 To Yuma, Lone Survivor, The Messenger), Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger, Dead Man Down, Need For Speed), Toby Kebbell (Wrath of The Titans, RockNRolla) and Rob Kazinsky (Pacific Rim, True Blood). Warcraft was originally going to go head-to-head with Star Wars: Episode VII, but would eventually move it’s release date to March 11th, 2016.

I’m a huge fan of Duncan Jones’ films Moon and Source Code, so having him enter the fantasy genre is beyond exciting. Also, Duncan is a self-proclaimed video game geek, he’s not just giving the video game franchise lip-service, when he states his passion for it. Each addition to the cast seems to be spot-on and the concept art for the project is stunning to say the least. I’ll be interested to see if they’ll be aiming for a grounded approach for the tone of the film, more in the vein of the final two Lord of The Rings movies.
