Jamie Foxx Wants to be SPAWN

It seems Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Electro, Jamie Foxx, is up for more comic book-inspired films, as he has expressed interest in playing the title role of Todd MacFarlane’s Spawn reboot. In an interview with Movies.com during Comic Con this past week, the Academy Award-winning actor and highly talented Foxx said he is actively pursuing the idea, as well as another seemingly tailor-made role:

‘Spawn’ is one, yeah. And Mike Tyson. Those are two roles I would just love to do. I’m aggressively pursuing them!

What’s more is that this could actually happen. Todd MacFarlane said earlier in the year that he’d been contacted by an Academy Award-winner with interest in portraying the Hellspawn.

We all remember the critically-panned Spawn film from 1997, starring Michael Jai White and John Leguizamo. More than anything, I remember the awesome soundtrack for the movie, but I digress. The original film Spawn, though it doesn’t stand the test of time, did double its budget at the box office, so there’s obviously some appeal to the franchise. Jamie Foxx would be great for the role, although it may require as much, or more, special effects/make-up than he will be sporting in TASM2, which releases next summer.

What do you think? Isn’t Foxx the perfect Al Simmons/Spawn?
