Guillmero del Toro Turned Down STAR WARS EPISODE VII

After acclaimed sci-fi director J.J. Abrams revealed recently that he had been offered and turned down the directing gig for Star Wars Episode VII, another fan-favourite director has said he turned down the job: Guillmero del Toro, the man who’s very name causes fanboy orgasms. Here’s what he said to The Playlist below:

“We got one phone call to my agent saying, ‘Is Guillermo interested?’ And basically I have so much stuff already of my own, and I’m pursuing stuff that I’m generating already..It was very flattering. It was just a phone call, it didn’t go past that, it was very nice to be asked, but believe it or not, I’m busy enough.”

However, the man DID say who he would like to see in the director’s chair for the sequel, and that’s none other than rumoured candidate Brad Bird.

“I think the fans deserve somebody that is just going to immerse themselves completely. As a geek, I would have loved to see Brad Bird take it.”

It’s a damn shame he had to turn it down, but it’s easy to understand his decision, given the amount of projects he has his name attached to right now. Are you disappointed that Guillmero del Toro won’t be directing Star Wars VII? Who do you want to see direct the movie? Share your thoughts below!
