Is This The Thing For The FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot?

The Fantastic Four reboot didn’t show up at 20th Century Fox’s Comic-Con panel, but thanks to the wonders of social media, we may have a big reveal for one of its members. A Twitter account called Justified Films has leaked an image of what looks to be a sculpture of The Thing for the reboot of Marvel’s First Family. Check it out!

Unlike The Thing from the previous film series, the reboot Thing will mostly be CGI. However, this sculpture of his head and shoulders looks like a tool for the filmmakers to use as a reference when they eventually insert the character digitally into other scenes. Jaime Bell will voice Ben Grimm in the reboot, as well as physically portray him pre-transformation.

So far, there hasn’t been much we’ve heard about this movie that inspires confidence, but I’ll give credit where it’s due: this Thing fantastic…pun fully intended. While the Michael Chiklis Thing was an impressive technological feat for the mid-2000s (and Chiklis played Grimm excellently), he always looked a little too cartoonish to me. This Thing not only looks more realistic, but resembles his comic book counterpart more closely. He’s not as orange as I’d like, but with the CGI, they’ll obviously be able to polish him up and bulk him up. Just going off the sculpture, they’ve nailed the infamous rocky her down superbly. He rocks…sorry, can’t help myself.

Now that we’ve seen The Thing, any chance we can get a look at Doctor Doom? Honestly, I’d settle even settle for a look at the Fantastic Four’s costumes. Convince me that this film won’t tank…or should I say, Trank! Wow, I really need to stop.
