Michael B. Jordan WILL save The FANTASTIC FOUR

When people ask me what I think about the new Fantastic Four, the first thing the comes to mind is how awful the casting choices are.

I mean big-eared Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm, Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm and for Doom they choose Toby Kebbell? Seriously that’s the worst casting since Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan instead of The Flash. But the one person that’s been brought on for this movie that I can see making it all worth the price of admission is Michael B. Jordan.

Because to me it isn’t about the color of his skin it’s about the heart of the character and he has it. Beyond that he’s voiced Cyborg in DC‘s Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and even teamed up with Dane DeHaan in Chronicle265_900He’s worked with Miles Teller on the film That Awkward Moment, which to me was one of my favorite movies of the year! Just from that I see Johnny Storm in the way he carried himself.

He was funny and unafraid to take risks. Michael B. Jordan worked well with his co-stars. Which brings me to my point: he may be the one person in 2015’s Fantastic Four that can actually save it from being an utter pile of shit. Don’t believe me? Go back and watch Chronicle! He made that movie awesome in an utterly awful flick. It seems the one thing people want to avoid and not talk about is the color of his skin, like they’re afraid to say “Hey Johnny Storm is white why are they casting a black guy?”

Well I am going to attempt to squash that right now. It doesn’t matter if the character is white or black, hell it doesn’t matter if he’s purple, to me if he can flame on that’s all that matters. Granted there would be an issue if he was to turn into water or was just a puff of smoke or a cloud like Galactus was in Rise of the Silver Surfer.

jay_underwoodLet’s take a look at our previous Johnny Storms. First off Jay Underwood. With a budget of less than one million 1994’s attempt to make the Fantastic Four show up on the big-screen failed to deliver. Who knows if it was ever meant to be seen by fans, but it wasn’t all that bad until they gave us our first glimpse at our hot-head flaming on. My biggest gripe: he was a damn cartoon! It looked worse than anything else but he wasn’t all that bad in the part.

Next Chris Evans. He was just a terrible choice for the character, I mean we’re talking about the guy who had a banana up his ass in Not Another Teen Movie. His whole performance felt forced but I can understand why he was picked for it. Physically he seemed to fit in with a bad series that didn’t offer him enough screen time. And did we really need to see him become The Thing for a bit?

I’m really glad there’s no third one and I’m excited to see a new interpretation. I hate the casting choices but to see Michael B. Jordan take on the role gets me excited. I believe that even if the whole movie is terrible and the characters are mismatched we will see an award winning performance from him.

I believe he already has a connection with the cast. He’s proven that his work with Miles Teller can be really funny. And it will be good to see them on a real superhero team! I’m sure we’ll finally have a joke about Mr. Fantastic making other parts grow.

So remember no matter how much you’re worried about this wait for a trailer to decide before your bash it. And while you bide time go back and look at some of the actors and their previous works. Envision them in these roles. I believe this version of the Fantastic Four will be more grounded and show us who these characters are. And although Chronicle was a mess I’m willing to give director Josh Trank a chance and hope to god he doesn’t mess this up!
